About
Imagine how limited your world would be if you couldn't read words on a page. How much experience would you be missing out on? It's a skill we take for granted but one that repays us again and again by enriching our lives with stories, communication and information. Now imagine you could sight read music at the piano with the same fluency. How much music would that open you up to? Once upon a time, piano players could all sight read fluently. Music was published and released in the same way as books for eager musicians to sit down with and enjoy. Nowadays sight reading has become a slow painstaking effort which most people 'struggle through' in order to learn new music or 'endure' as part of a graded exam. I know this all too well because I spent many frustrating years there myself. If you have a basic understanding of written music for the piano (treble/bass clef, basic rhythms, sharps/flats, know how to find the names of the notes on the stave) but have never experienced the joy of confident fluent sight-reading, this course is for you. Using my 5 Pillars of Confident Sight Reading you will be guided through daily (5-10 mins) enjoyable short sample pieces that have been specifically chosen to teach you the key skills of becoming fluent at this neglected art. You didn't learn to read overnight and it's no different with sight reading: regularity is the secret. Tips and tricks, while useful, are no substitute for simply learning through doing. That's why the course provides enough material for you to enjoy over a 3 week period so you can fully embed your new knowledge and skills. From the first couple of days you'll notice a difference as old habits are broken and replaced with tried and tested techniques to develop fluency and confidence. There's a world of music waiting to be discovered when you become a Confident Sight Reader. Liam
